Set-up

Set three cone stations in a Y-shape, 10 yards apart. Player A passes to B, follows run; B lays off to C, who switches to a fourth cone. Rotate clockwise every 5 minutes. Emphasise timing, weight, and first-touch direction.

Coaching points

  • First touch sets the next pass — take it across your body, not straight into your feet.
  • The runner's timing off the lay-off is everything; don't arrive early and stand still.
  • Communication: call for the ball with your name or 'yes' — no guessing.

Progressions

  • Add a passive defender in the central channel to force awareness.
  • Introduce a third-man run — C switches, D overlaps to receive beyond the last cone.
