Set-up
Attacking set: one direct shot routine and one layoff-and-shoot routine practiced six times each. Defensive set: wall building drill — who stands in the wall, who marks runners, where the GK sets up. Swap roles halfway through.
Coaching points
- Wall jumps on the GK's call, not the kicker's run-up — Ben Steinmetz, that's your decision
- Nico Martinez as wall anchor: head the ball if it comes over at pace, don't flinch
- Attacking: the decoy run is as important as the actual shot — commit to it
Progressions
- Run a live free-kick vs a live wall with GK to test the routine under pressure
- Add a third option: dummy over the ball, pull-back to arriving runner
